It's not ghetto, you can get some really nice and classy looking stuff there. My friend got stuff from there for his apartment and it doesnt look trashy at all. He has a nice wood coffee table and table to eat at. The only trashy thing he got were these 10 dollar bar stools, but I think he just wanted to have some. So if you're willing to spend money at ikea you'll be fine, I haven't been disappointed by them yet.

Damn this is an old thread. Gothic Cabinet Craft, anyone? All wood furniture, all the time! Its an East Coast thing but you can order from their website. (Apparently they're German and Swedish as well)

I don't know how many of you have ever heard of This End Up, but they used to be a national chain. They were at many malls including the one I go to all the time. Now they only seem to exist in North Carolina.

This End Up sold natural wood furniture. When I turned 7 my mom bought me a new room of This End Up furniture. That was in 1993. Today it's still holding up very well, I still use all of it. I'm actually sitting at one of their desks right now. I have two beds (one is now in storage), a desk and chair, an under-the-bed drawer, a bookcase, a dresser, two cubbies, and this huge bookcase that I got later. They made stuff for other rooms too--sofas, sleep sofas, endtables, etc.

Look them up on the web, their stuff is nice. If I ever need more furniture, I'll simply rent a truck and go to North Carolina, perhaps meeting up with a few friends who have moved/go to school there along the way.

I expect this furniture to outlive me, that's how good it is. The prices are pretty reasonable too.

If I want something like a mattress or lamp, I usually go to one of the local chains or to a place like JCPenney.

Yeah, pottery barn does have that grandmaish feel, but the antiqueness of the store is what appeals to me.

Matt: There is a Restoration Hardware in Easton. It's in the older section not too far from the A&F.

Ikea has some neat stuff, but they are of not-so-good quality. I personally think Pottery Barn would be a nice place to get furnitures if you are decorating your own home instead of a rented one.

Isn't Bombay out of business now? Ours was taken out of the mall and there was a guy standing outside of the mall with a sign that they were going out of business for like three months lol.

Ikea is hit or miss. Their stuff seemed better a while ago. Some of their recent stuff hasn't looked as hot.

I haven't been inside an Ikea since 1989.

I think its best to buy furniture at antique stores. For the accessories and other stuff, I like Ralph Lauren the most, but I also like Pottery Barn for some things (like their faux fur blankets).

I think I like Crate & Barrels decoration stuff, but I only went once
