I don't know if anyone has been to Gilly within the last week.. but we are getting a ton of new stuff. A few new bra styles, in lots of new colors, new clothes obviously, new photos hanging in the store, etc.

Two new scents were added to the body care line - sweet astor and satin something (blanking on the second one, sorry). There is a new "Eucalyptus" line, which is body lotion, body tanning lotion (like jergens natural glow but for $18), bronzer ($24, and pretty amazing looking), and a bronzing brush sold separately.

There's also a new playlist, finally!

anything being clearanced?

Bad news - supposedly gilly will never have a clearance section.

most of the older stuff that we had we shipped back to malaysia i think.. supposedly its too "messy" looking in abercrombie and hollister clearance sections.. and to try and maintain all of the undies and such in clearance in a store that prides itself so much on its presentation would just be a disaster. sucks for us though. but again, this is just what i heard in my store!

also- i really dont think clearance is necessary. just look how messy vs gets...

actually...gh not having clearance in store is a very smart idea. that would be an awful mess-i can hardly stand hco and the like, and i've been with girls in vs during the sale. it's vicious. it's something gh can do without.

maybe gh should have a few outlets where they ship clearance, or when they go online, gh should add a clearance section.

I can understand why they don't have clearance because it does get messy, the outlet has 12 galvanized buckets filled with GH panties and they are a mess, all the thongs get tangled with the sensors, I hope they start having hoodies and tees.

i can understand how clearancing underwear can get messy...but what about all the stuff like tanks, hoodies, and sweats? i would think that wouldn't get too bad...

the only thing that's questionable for me is, VS gets SO BUSY during their clearance events, and i know that brings in boatloads of cash for them...a&f and hco also make tons of money off of getting rid of older merchandise...how will gilly, as a new brand, survive without the clearance sales when i walk by and usually see the store empty?

they need to get the brand name out there, and they don't advertise, so selling some of the hoodies and crap with their name on it will help with that. undies and bras and crap, they're probably re-using the material or something and making the new crap out of it...but idk about what they would do with the hoodies, pants, tanks, flips, etc. (why would a girl pay full price for gilly flips when a&f and hco sell them for a clearanced price, and with an established name at that?)

OR why would someone pay for body care or flip flops or any other clothing item from gilly when they can buy it from a well-established brand like VS for cheaper? i'm not advocating that gilly do what RUEHL did when it started, because it shouldn't get the wrap of it being super cheap crap...but it does need to compete and have some sales, too.

and saying we can send the stuff like hoodies and tanks to outlets isn't a great idea, because outlets are few and far, so it wouldn't spread the name, and some are located in the middle of nowhere, hence not helping spread the name either. clearly, from there being so many panties in the outlets, they're not selling fantastically at full price...

i remember at the MOA GH store opening the people from HO told us there would be 2 new body care scents coming out in March. and now they've finally come out in June?
do either of them smell good?

about the body care scents -- satin bellows & sweet astor. in my opinion, satin bellows (which is pink) smells exactly like silver shell (which i do not like. sweet astor is, well.. sweet smelling, like velvet cassia and calla bluff, and is coral-colored.

about the bras -- nothing extraordinary. mostly we have some new colors for back to school, there's a unlined racerback with straps that go around the neck like a u. and there's also a unlined demi.

Aw, I am so bummed Gilly won't have clearance, although I totally see the reason why. Although, it might work for hoodies/tees/sweats, Ruehl has clearance and at least at the Natick Ruehl, it never looks messy at all.

Yeah, that sucks though. If I was a chick, I wouldn't buy too many things at full price knowing that the VS a few stores down may not have the atmosphere, but what I'm looking for is probably cheaper and equal if not better than what I'm looking at in GH in most cases.

lol, i bought the tanning lotion and i think it works pretty well.
i got a noticeable tan within a week!
i wasnt thrilled about paying $18 for it though.

Good tanning lotions run like $50-80 usually, $18 is ridiculously cheap.
