I think ruehl is kind of the equivalent of this. Sure they sell completely different things, but they can easily target the a&f and hollister man for ruehl. Girls aren't shopping there as much as they originally hoped they would, but now with gilly hicks, all of the buisness is coming from girls.

Maybe for HCo, but they haven't really cut it at Adult AF at all. There are TONS of boxers out right now, more than usual it seems. And all of the boxed underwear is still around. I think it'd be stupid to just cut it out completely from AF.

It wouldn't work very well because men don't think about underwear the same way women do. Most men would probably feel a little self-concious shopping for underwear, whereas women sometimes feel more sexy. Maybe well down the road after Gilly is an established brand to the point of saturation they may introduce men's items, but it would never be a full line or anytime soon. They would really have to establish it as more of a clothing brand to draw in guys, and then it kind of defeats the purpose of the brand, making it another Hollister. Gilly is designed to be girly and feminine and one of those chicks-only type of stores.

^ Agreed. I can't see many guys in the Company's target market that would be interested in going to a store simply to shop for underwear. Most guys wouldn't get "excited" about it, and when they do buy underwear at HCO/A&F, they've usually come to buy shirts, jeans, etc.
I would, however, appreciate an excuse to go into Gilly Hicks, without feeling like a creeper. |

No, but I do wished I knew someone who works for the company. God, I would have all the models names.

In that case, awesome! If anyone wants anything after men's spools up, I have a new Gilly within walking distance.
Still though, I wouldn't expect more than like 8 or 9 things, more like stuff a chick would buy her boyfriend than stuff attempting to get guys to shop there. |

They have another picture of a guy wearing a pair of gray waffle-ish boxer briefs that has been up for awhile. So I'm assuming that these men's items are just made for the marketing or they have something in the pipeline.

Only problem I can find with the whole idea is that men's billboard tees will be next to impossible to make, unless nobody has a problem advertising women's underwear on their chest. I guess they'll just make humor tees, and I assume no graphic tees.
I think the lineup should consist of 3-4 tees, one of them being a hoodie tee, undershirts, scrubs year round, boxers, boxed underwear, a pair or two of sweatshorts, the sessions line should be moved to Gilly, throw in a cologne, and then maybe one or two seasonal items (fabric FFs, a knit hat, etc.). The whole thing shouldn't take up more than one or two rooms. |
