EVERY single concept at A&F has that Hawaiian Flower on a shirt now. They've got it on two different color tees at HCO, A&F, little a, and Ruehl. They just came out with two new colors at HCO.

yeah... GILLY HICKS???.. dont you mean GILLY HOLLISTER Co.

it looks like hollister stuff

i mean really? come on now.. GH should be strictly underwear, pjs and body stuff.

leave the hoddies, halters, and tees to A&F, HOLLISTER and RUEHL.

or at least come up with something wayyyyyyyyyyyy different from the other brands.

take it up a notch.

i am not impressed.

i give it a yawn and two thumbs down.

sorry.

it is kind of funny. it seems like the brand, well, at least from this thread, it seems like the brand is succeeding more in selling clothes similar to their sister brands than actually selling lingerie, which was the main focus of the brand?

I'm curious myself to see how much Gilly is selling of the loungewear as opposed to the underwear. I think it will take a while for them for really make themselves a true competitor of VS. The way I see it is, the way the store is set up, you have no idea what they're selling unless you happen to wander in there. If you don't shop at Abercrombie or Ruehl, you'd never know it's one of their concepts. VS has their wares splashed all over the windows of the store....you know exactly what they're selling as you pass by. I've heard people in my mall say they think Gilly's a furniture store because of the front porch. And there's no advertising for it anywhere in the mall. Other than people who know what Gilly is and what's it's selling, how are they going to draw people into the store and make them fans?

That's A&F Co. and their shutters, bricks, and walls for you. 'Window shopping' is not an option for any concept. But ohh the smell of Fierce from the other side of the mall and the loud music is supposed to draw you in to see what exactly is behind the shutters and such. VS you can at least clearly tell they're selling lingerie with all the mannequins dressed so skimpy and the ability to see what's inside via windows. I agree though, it's dumb. You look at Gilly and it looks like it could be a cafe, furniture store, or hell, even a chop shop for all I know.

i dont think the purpose of gilly hicks is to draw in new customers. they are trying to attract the same type of people who shop at abercrombie and all of their other concepts. i even read in an article that they dont see vs as competition because they dont want their customers.. they want abercrombie customers.

they are achieving their main focus... i threw out all of my old underwear and replaced it with GH underwear. just because people arent posting pictures of their bras and underwear doesnt mean they didnt buy any. im sure most people who have been shopping there arent sitting on topicstyle all day to discuss a store and what they bought. another reason why everyone is buying the lounge wear is probably to advertise the fact that they went to GH first, since everything says gh or gilly hicks on it. and clueless people will ask them what gh is. its just exciting to be the first people to know about it.

My girlfriend did the same thing, she's spent about $500 there since they've opened, mostly on underwear.
