the background story...

here's what i remember of it (sorry it's cut so short):

Gilly was born in Britain, went to fashion school in Paris, and started selling womens bras and undies out of her house with the goal of making women feel sexy and good about themselves. Now her granddaughter of the same name has taken over and renovated her grandmothers Victorian house into a shop where she continues to sell products for women.

like i said, sorry it's cut so short but that's really all i can remember and it's not printed in the associate handbook

"Gillian Lonsdale was a passionate girl who had love for the arts and
the beach. Living in Sydney, Gillian (coloquially known as Gilly)
received the best of both worlds. She frequented the Sydney Opera House
and Bondi beach in between taking shifts at her family's restaurant in
town. It was one night on her way to Opera house where she met Trevor
Hicks, a well respected lawyer, who shared her love of fine art. They
later got married and took over the restaurant. Due to the increase of
other restaurants, they were forced to close it down because of less
demand. Determined not to sell their store, Gilly decided to convert
the space into a clothing store to cater to the growing community.
Gilly took charge of designing and Trevor took care of finances. The
store opened in June 1957 and was named Gilly Hicks. Since then, Gilly
Hicks has provided quality clothing and more recently, has specialized
in women's lingerie. It is through these classic designs, that Gilly
Hicks lives on."

where did you even get this from: like what does "associates handbook" mean?

if the above story is true sounds like the store will have an old world parisian boutique feel to it...
kinda like this...except no display window and instead there would be like faux french doors with intricate deatiling across the entire facade.

omg guys, sorry i forgot to mention that the house/"store" was located in Sydney, Australia where she moved after school in Paris. my bad.

milo g. - that picture you found of what you think the store might look like. . . . um, not quite. it's an old victorian style house that looks amazing, not cheap.

sexonthebeach15 - there are no mens products.

i know people will start arguing with me on this, but 1.) there was no mens merch. in the shipment, 2.) there is no spot for mens on the salesfloor and 3.) there is no designated space for mens in the stockroom.

i've heard rumors that we will sell mens products later on, but i have not heard any official word on this so until i do, can't you guys just be happy with the fact that mens underwear is already sold at all our other concepts??

there opening a GH at Santa Anita Mall this summer. Santa Anita,CA. i saw the outside pix and was like OMG!!! YES!! until i found out that they arent going to be selling any guys stuff. BUMMER!!

You mean the City of Arcadia. Santa Anita is just the name of the race track that its next to.

And speaking of that mall, Caruso, the guy who built the Grove and the Americana, is building The Shops at Santa Anita on that gigantic stretch of empty parking lot right next to the mall. Its gonna open in 2010.
