Default Questions for Mods

In the interest of transparency, I'm just curious what the policy towards clothing threads is? The rules thread references why threads will be deleted (if they are harmful to the community for example), but it seems like at late "at a moderator's discretion" simply means whenever a mod feels like it or wants to cease any discussion that bothers them or they're not capable of continuing. Moreover, mods will close a thread THEN make a long and argumentative post, continuing the argument but in such a way that they have the final word. I would just like to know what your personal policies are as to when you decide a thread should be closed?

Also, TNF can you please explain why Suhpreem was banned? Was he given any warnings as the rules thread states should have happened. Is there a particular thread or post that resulting in his being kicked off the forum, because looking at his recent posts there was nothing more aggressive or offensive than what I usually read on here? Maybe, he was doing something through PMs or things were deleted; I really have no idea. The only thing I saw was that he made a couple of mild personal attacks towards you about how you dress, but I know I've read things worse than that and the poster wasn't even threatened with a ban. Thank you.

Also, is debate not allowed on this forum? It seems just as things start to get really good, they are squashed before any real debate goes on.

I understand the whole mod deal, but this place isn't going to grow if we don't allow this kind of activity. We are all entitled to our own opinions and I also feel like we should be allowed to express those more often, when appropriate.

As much as I didn't like the guys style, I definitely and strongly disagree with Suhpreem's banning. Please be able to put personal issues aside, for the interest of the boards as a whole. A mod needs to be above petty disputes like that. That is what a mod should be able to do.

TNF did it. Guess we'll have to wait to see why.

Thank you for taking the time to intelligently express your opinion. It doesn't happen often enough around here lately.

While I have no constructive comments to offer as to why threads have been being closed as of late, I can tell you that Suhpreem's ban is only a week-long temporary ban, given as a result of his "insulting remarks" towards other members in a topic which, based on these last four posts, I assume has been locked or deleted by now.

Thanks for the info. I suppose in theory the members aren't entitled to it, but it sure would be nice to see quotes from these possibly deleted posts and an explanation of how they were insulting enough to warrant a week long ban, if for no other reason than as a member, I have no idea what apparently will warrant my being kicked off. It seems to be based on whims and entirely too subjective. So thanks for taking the time to provide a bit of insight though I guess I'm just waiting on further clarity from another mod or two. Now I'm going to step away from the computer, as I've been staring at a computer screen since 8am yuck.
