Abercrombie and Fitch Denim Guide
Mens
The Baxter Low-Rise Slim
Low-slung and cut long to puddle at the feet, the Baxters are Abercrombie’s featured jean for the back to school season. The slimmest fit among the denim lineup, the Baxters are designed to give you a sleek and mature silhouette. Pair the dark destroyed wash with the new dark leather treads, a matching belt (hanging down, of course) and the white Avalanche Pass oxford for a key look for this season.
AFco. Equivalents: Hollister’s Boomer Low-Rise Slim, Ruehl no. 925’s Vandam.
The Kilburn Low-Rise Boot
A standard boot cut with a low rise, the Kilburn is Abercrombie’s standard-fitting jean. Late for class? Throw on the same Kilburns you wore out last night and go. Pair them with a belt, treads and polo, any color.
AFco. Equivalents: Hollister’s Hermosa Low-Rise Boot, Ruehl’s Mercer.
The Saranac Boot
Loose without being baggy, the Saranacs are made for guys with bigger legs that don’t like the low-rise on the Kilburn. The Saranacs also have some of the coolest and most unique washes of any Abercrombie jean. Wear them loose (but not baggy) with almost anything. These bad boys are versatile.
AFco. Equivalents: Hollister’s Zuma Boot, Ruehl’s Varick.
The Colden Baggy
Avoid at all costs.
AFco. Equivalents: Who cares?
The Porter Vintage Straight
Before the Baxters came out in a redesigned cut, these were my favorite jean. Slimmer than the Kilburn without being tight, they’re the perfect tailgating jean. Wear them with a tee shirt and sandals for a perfect casual look. The Porters are eventually going to be replaced (or supplemented) with the Remsen Low-Rise Straight.
AFco. Equivalents: Hollister’s Trestles Straight, Ruehl’s Greenwich (discontinued).
The Remsen Slim-Straight
Think baxters only a tight ankle. Almost like a men's version of the Erins. Personally, I love them but other members don't. Def. a 'try before you buy' item.
Womens
The Erin Low-Rise Skinny
When my manager was showing me the different styles of girls jeans, and who to sell them to (over a year ago) she told me not to really bother with the Erins. Now that they’re Abercrombie’s chosen jean for the BTS season, we’re pushing them for girls. Go figure. These jeans cut a very distinctive silhouette, which looks cute if you can pull them off. Wear these if you’re skinny, and get them long. The Erins look cute rolled up or puddled at the foot with sandals. I love these jeans on girls.
AFco. Equivalents: Hollister’s Laguna Low-Rise Skinny, Ruehl’s Barrow Straight-Leg.
The Madison Low-Rise Flare
Cut a little looser throughout the thigh, the Madisons are designed for cheerleaders or athletes. They flare out a little to a boot-cut at the bottom. Always size down because they’re notorious for stretching out after 5 minutes of wear.
AFco. Equivalents: Hollister’s Cali Low-Rise Flare, Ruehl’s Waverly Flare.
The Emma Low-Rise Boot
Designed to fit almost anyone, the Emma is the longtime favorite at Abercrombie and Fitch. Size down to prevent the dreaded ass-stretch.
AFco. Equivalents: Hollister’s Venice Low-Rise Boot, Ruehl’s Jane Boot.
Specialty Jeans (Women):
Brianna Low-Rise Boot
Frankly, I’m not sure what the Briannas fit like. I’ve never heard of them. If anyone can give me some insight, I’d be glad to post it here.
AFco. Equivalents: Hollister’s Little Harbor Boot (Once again, not 100% sure).
Anita Super-Skinny
Super Skinny, super sexy. This jean is for The Daring. The Bold. and The Fashionista.Designed to fit you like a supermodel. Fitted leg with a tapered bottom. If you wear these, expect heads to turn in awe.
